What American business leaders are thinking

Article Abstract:

Wyatt Co has conducted three surveys of American business leaders and managers to determine the most important issues discussed in corporate circles. Based on the following surveys, 'Leading a Changing Workforce, Management USA,' 'Corporate Restructuring Practices,' and 'Involvement USA,' it was determined that the most pressing issues for industry leaders are worker productivity, health benefits costs, and government regulations. Employee involvement was used by 60% of the executives surveyed when dealing with the issue of worker productivity. The surveys indicate a business climate wherein: the decision making process of an organization is financially driven, there is an increasing participation of employees in financial issues tackled by management, and corporate restructuring will continue, possible at a slower rate.

A thematic approach to leadership training

Article Abstract:

A thematic approach to leadership training considers whether transactional, conditional or transformational training will be implemented. Each has its own use under specific conditions in an organization. Other variables to be taken into account are the corporate reward system, the type of work and the characteristics of subordinates. Seven leadership training models are also analyzed in the context of this thematic approach to leadership training.
