Do personal development programs save money for employers?

Article Abstract:

Personnel development programs are often adopted by corporations on the notion that these have economic significance for the company. Surprisingly, however, a review of employee assistance programs and managed mental health care, health promotion and wellness programs, work-familyprograms and employee training programs has not conclusively established any positive effect for the company. It is recommended that more company evaluations and research across organizations be conducted to determine exactlythe effectiveness of personnel development programs.

Preventing stress-related losses in the workplace

Article Abstract:

Post-injury and chronic work stress need to be diagnosed as early as possible so that companies may turn disasters into opportunities to strengthen employee morale as well as reinforce an image of caring and progressivism. Companies need to develop carefully designed and well-monitored strategies for the appropriate and necessary treatment of injuries on the job. A post-injury plan should require early intervention, follow-up and a return-to-work plan.

Point of service products: cutting costs, retaining employee choice

Article Abstract:

Group health insurance costs present a major problem for most companies. These expenditures often minimize gains achieved in corporate profits. To control such costs, some firms have turned to managed care programs as a method of controlling increased health care costs. Such health plans provide point-of-service products which have been shown as effective tools for reducing health program costs.
