Article Abstract:

Implementing a custom document image management system from Kofax Image Products will increase productivity and reduce costs for Harford Mutual Insurance Co. The custom system uses four scanning workstations, 104 image retrieval workstations and utilizes a 16 megabits-per-second IBM Token-Ring network. The imaging system has four servers: a Compaq SystemPro, an IBM PS/2 Model 95, an AST 486-based microcomputer and a 386-based system. The insurance company processes 80% of its policies using the system and hopes to reach 100% in the future.

How can I turn my agency into a "paperless office"?

Article Abstract:

Insurance agencies that automate should focus on efficiency and accuracy rather than eliminating paper. Technology should assist an agency to reorganize workflow, rethink business practices and do away with outdated techniques. Insurance agencies do not use as much paper in 1996 as they used in 1986 but paper is still an important communication tool between companies.
