Lettering in leadership: the American College and Limra International jointly sponsor a new credential

Article Abstract:

The Chartered Leadership Fellow (CLF) is a formal study program introduced by Bryn Mawr, PA-based American College and Limra International to train industry professionals how to be competent, modern managers and utilize a marketing-driven approach to management. The analysis of current operations, customization of marketing strategies and implementation are included in the program. CLF can be particularly useful in helping insurance professionals develop alternatives to conservative management systems which are an anachronism in a dynamic marketplace.

Financial planners and insurers seeking a competitive advantage in the industry must actively pursue continuing education (CE). The scope of the study, its coverage of developments in finance as well as its practical applications of technical information have to be considered prior to taking a particular course. CE is imperative to the financial planner who must always keep in mind Principle Three of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards' Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility which advocates competence.

SIMPLE plans offer complex financial gains

Article Abstract:

The Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees (SIMPLE) retirement plan arrangement was established under the 1996 Small Business Job Protection Act. Employers can establish SIMPLEs, starting in 1997. The features and attractions of SIMPLEs are outlined. Financial advisers should learn about SIMPLE plans, because some employers that have avoided qualified plans might find them attractive.
