Paying employees who quit - unemployment compensation benefits for voluntary resignations

Article Abstract:

The unemployment compensation laws in different states vary in laxity but ultimately depend on an employee's reasons for leaving work. New Jersey does not recognize personal reasons as sufficient ground for quitting work but does consider work conditions as "good cause" for seeking compensation. Pennsylvania allows payment for voluntary resignations for personal reasons such as obligations. New York laws prohibit payment of compensation to employees seeking reparation for attending to sick relatives unless medical care is proven to be necessary.

Automatic sales compensation plans

Article Abstract:

Sales compensation managers know that incentive compensation encourages employees to achieve corporate objectives. Companies, however, encounter difficulty in devising compensation plans due to the complexity of the incentives themselves. Automation can reduce administrative problems but there remains the concern of achieving the right balance between properly motivating employees and keeping compensation costs manageable.
