Article Abstract:

The issue of retirement income security has become a major topic for the 105th Congress with the proposal of different bills by legislators aimed at promoting pension rights and retirement savings. Importance is being given to the aspects of pension and personal savings in retirement income planning following proposals which would increase portability by hastening vesting requirements for the former and expanding individual retirement accounts for the latter. Other topics of concern include related issues such as equity in women's pension and retirement coverage in small businesses.
