Systems reorganization: a winning strategy

Article Abstract:

Success in the reorganization of information systems depends on teamwork and the balancing of technological objectives with business requirements. The reorganization included the establishment of a new data center and the installation of software enhancements and expert systems. The firm was able to reduce its staff while becoming more productive.

What's the use?

Article Abstract:

Many high-technology products, such as computers and voice-response systems, are not user-friendly. Usability testing, one step in the systems development process, can help product designers develop products that are easier to use. New England Mutual Life uses a custom-designed laboratory for usability testing. This process allows developers to see which tasks give users the most problems.
