The growth in health care plans offering choice

Article Abstract:

Choice has become an important factor for health plan enrollees struggling in the rapidly evolving work environment of the 1990s. This has led to the creation of Exclusive Provider Organizations (EPO) and health maintenance organizations (HMO) with point-of-service (POS) options. EPOs control costs by providing a limited network of providers, while HMOs with POS control costs by requiring the use of its health care providers and allowing the use of out-of-network providers.

Debunking the myths about severance pay

Article Abstract:

Severance pay programs are often neglected because benefits accruing to them are paid out only under extra ordinary circumstances. The sporadic nature of these employment benefits have given most employers a relaxed attitude toward their implementation. However, employers must take caution because these programs are also covered by the ERISA. Failure to comply with ERISA regulations applicable to severance pay can be very costly for employers.
