Assessing the Asia-Pacific 'power vacuum.'

Article Abstract:

The US proposal to withdraw its troops from the North-east and South-east Asia could threaten the security in that region. Some analysts however maintain that the fears are unfounded because the US has no immediate plans to retract its military forces deployed in the Western Pacific region. The growing dominance of Chinese power in this region will have to be curbed so as to maintain peace and stability in the region, particularly in Japan's nuclear free zone.
