Human development and financial conservatism
Article Abstract:
The concepts of financial conservatism and human development have been mistakenly interchanged by analysts and policymakers. The rationale behind human development focuses on the role played by human capital in economic growth as expounded by Adam Smith in his work 'Wealth of Nations.' On the other hand, financial conservatism highlights the importance of exercising care in developing long-term strategies.

In search of the post-Washington (dis)consensus: the 'missing' content of PRSPS
Article Abstract:
Many have argued that the "locally owned" Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) represent a 'remorphing' of neoliberalism or the Washington Consensus as practiced by the international financial institutions for much of the 1980s and 1990s, even though it has become the main vehicle for policy in the international context. The outcome of PRSP process, the actual PRSP and its content, is explored.

Human capital and human capability
Article Abstract:
The terms 'human capital' and 'human capability' in economic and social development processes were compared. The former involves the skills and knowledge of men and their use in production while the latter concerns man's capacity to live valuable lives and make important choices. The two concepts are closely related since both deal with the role of men and the abilities they develop and use.
