Netting the future: international relations online

Article Abstract:

The Columbia University Press has found a powerful solution to problems brought about by escalating costs of book publishing. It has launched the Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) Web site. It features the organization's scholarly papers, journals, conference highlights, books, calendar of activities, and bibliography. Though it has had some drawbacks, such as difficulty of access for users of search engines other than Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer software, CIAO organizers are optimistic it would be able to fuel the continued growth of academic research.
