The case for Indo-US high-technology cooperation

Article Abstract:

India has had a troubled relationship with the US for several years though it is considered the world's largest democracy. Nuclear proliferation is identified as one of the major irritants in Indo-US relations. The US was greatly disappointed when India refused to sign the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and was further enraged when India instead tested a nuclear explosive device in Oct 1974. This led to the implementation of several laws restricting the export of high-technology products to India.

Six steps to effective delegation

Article Abstract:

There are six steps to effective delegation based on the concept that delegating authority and responsibility go together. These are selecting a capable individual, explaining the goals of the task being delegated, and enabling the person to perform the assignment by providing tools and defining the sphere of authority. These are followed by obtaining feedback, accepting other methods of doing the task, and acknowledging the work done by the other person.

Taxation and employment status

Article Abstract:

UK construction industry employers are required to establish correct taxation procedures for their workers by Apr. 5, 1997. The employment status of all employees must be determined to do this. Those defined as self-employed must calculate their own income tax payments using pre-defined methods. Company employees pay tax through pay-as-you-earn and national insurance contribution schemes. Help on employment status is available from the Inland Revenue.
