Guilty by reason of title

Article Abstract:

Issues regarding criminal liability for misdeeds by corporate executives are discussed. Corporate attorneys faced with this problem should first bring in outside criminal counsel, not let the government control the time frame of the investigation, and make clear that they represent the corporation rather than individual employees.

When dad won't pay

Article Abstract:

Legal remedies to be used against fathers unwilling to pay child support are discussed. Welfare reform, brought into being by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, also made possible the centralization of child support collection funds in each state. Autonatic wage withholding, driver's license revocation, and, if all else fails, prison, are other possibilities.

Death be not cheap; some heirs face unpleasant surprise when Medicaid recovery efforts begin

Article Abstract:

The ability of states to seek reimbursement for the Medicaid-paid costs of a decedent is discussed. Assets such as the primary residence, which are exempt while the person is alive, must be used to pay part of the reimbursement after death.
