An ethical issue in voluntary-consensus-standards development: a decision-science view

Article Abstract:

The process for developing voluntary consensus standards invites abuse particularly by those involved in the standards-development process. Thus, a process that balances the interests of the technical committee volunteers and its members should be based on judicial due process to ensure fairness. An approach for developing voluntary consensus standards that employs judicial due processes and furthers the standard development's primary goal is presented.
