Graphics for the non-artist

Article Abstract:

Claris' $129 ClarisImpact 2.0 presentation graphics software gives non-artists the ability to create attractive and sophisticated drawings and charts. ClarisImpact is available for several platforms, including Mac, Power Mac, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. It includes an impressive array of pre-created templates and clip art, users only need to select a template and fill in the blanks. The application will automatically maintain sizing, spacing and connections. ClarisImpact adds a touch of professionalism by allowing styles to be used to maintain consistency. Although ClarisImpact has several preset styles, users can also create their own. The user interface is a little weak, there are no descriptions of what tools do, and the various functions are not immediately obvious. Nonetheless, ClarisImpact is a very powerful program that is an excellent choice for non-artists.

Netscape Navigator vs. Microsoft Internet Explorer

Article Abstract:

Microsoft's Internet Explorer dethrones Netscape Navigator from its long standing position as the best Web browser on the market. Internet Explorer also tops the price comparison since it is available for free downloading from Microsoft's Web site, while Navigator still costs $49. Although Microsoft entered the Web browser arena in late 1995, and its initial Internet Explorer offerings were inferior to Navigator, Internet Explorer 3.0 not only competes with but often surpasses Navigator. Both Internet Explorer and Navigator are great Web browsers, but Internet Explorer includes both innovative features and a simplified interface that make it more Windows-compatible than Navigator. Internet Explorer also offers superior customization and it eliminates the need for site searches by requiring users to simply enter search criteria into the address field.
