Look who's chatting; Pennsylvania lawyers had better introduce themselves on the Internet

Article Abstract:

Internet use and legal practice chat rooms bring with them considerations of legal ethics, and a Philadelphia Bar Ass'n ethics committee opinion on this issue cautioned lawyers using the Internet to follow rules against communication with nonclients, solicitation and the unauthorized practice of law. Moreover, they should be careful to follow the Model Rules of Professional Conduct on communicating with unrepresented clients and those represented by other counsel. The committee's advice does not differ dramatically from what CLE programs have been saying on the issue.
