Article Abstract:

Promises to reeingineer government and make it smaller seem to have had limited effectiveness, but lawyers do have the consolation of some uniformity to federal agency practice under the Administrative Procedure Act. Many similar laws at the state and local level help agencies establish rules, regulations and procedures. Busy areas are zoning law, business licenses and permits, liquor licenses for restaurants, workers' compensation and immigration practice.

Be it ever so unusual ... finding odd spaces can ease the minds of lawyers and their clients

Article Abstract:

The choice of an office says much about an attorney's personality, and the size and flexibility of their practices gives small-firm attorneys and sole practitioners an unusual opportunity to express their personalities. Unusual choices discussed are the sanctuary of an old church, a condominium whose pool gives clients a chance to relax and a Victorian House listed in the National Historic Register.
