Plenty of seats in virtual courtrooms; 'Webcasts' of judicial proceedings gaining - and educating - a wide audiene

Article Abstract:

The increasing popularity of televised trials is discussed. Anyone with Internet access can view such trials, although most court sites require the computer to have RealPlayer, a multimedia program available for free downloading at www.real.com. A short list of courts with televised proceedings and their Web addresses is given.

Article Abstract:

Internet deposition services, which make it possible for attorneys anywhere to hear a deposition from their own conference rooms, are described. I-Dep, LegalSpan.com, and realLegal.com are three of the services.Disadvantages such as the loss of some of the impression made by nonverbal communication are discussed.

Article Abstract:

The article describes the sabbaticals and other employee benefits offered by some law firms to increase attorney retention and to expand attorneys' horizons. The necessity of finding a balance between work and family life leads to other unusual employee benefits such as emergency daycare and mortgage assistance programs for first-time home buyers.
