The Audit Committee: In Search of a Purpose

Article Abstract:

There is a historical basis for the establishment and use of audit committees. State objectives and duties are examined. The achievements of the audit committees are evaluated. The ultimate benefit of an audit committee is to serve as a corporate watchdog to spot, analyze, and resolve existing as well as potential company financial problems.
