Who killed RFK? Not this guy; big media and tabloid are strange bedfellows in libel suit linked to book

Article Abstract:

Khalid Khawar's libel case against the Globe tabloid, for portraying him as the real assassin of Robert F. Kennedy in a 1989 story, has reached the California Supreme Court. Lower courts have upheld Khawar's contention that the Globe had a journalistic responsibility to verify information from the Robert Morrow book that it used as the source for its report. The tabloid and the 13 major news media organizations that have filed amicus curiae briefs in the case argue that the First Amendment required only that the tabloid accurately report the book's contents, which the Globe claims it did.
