World needs an international criminal court

Article Abstract:

Members of the international community are participating in the International Criminal Court Preparatory Committee to develop treaty language that would establish a permanent tribunal to hear cases against individuals accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. The International Court of Justice's jurisdiction is limited to civil cases among nations, and the mandate of the UN Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia is limited. An international forum is needed to step in when national courts fail to act, but US objections may limit the court's authority and independence.

A growing trend in psychiatric malpractice cases are suits based on undue familiarity, or sexual misconduct.
