Brown & Williamson tracks leak of 'smoking gun.'

Article Abstract:

Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corp. has filed suit against Merrell Williams, a paralegal from a law firm that represented Brown and Williamson, for making public documents that indicate that the tobacco company was aware of the hazards of cigarette smoking. As part of the suit for theft and breach of fiduciary duty, the tobacco company requested and received an injunction against Williams requiring him to cease disclosing information. Brown and Williamson also submitted subpoenas to members of Congress and news agencies requiring them to disclose documents they may have received. Two requests were rejected and one is still pending.
