Article Abstract:

Works of authors such as Dorothy Richardson, Virginia Woolf, T.E. Lawrence, D.H. Lawrence, George Orwell, Vera Brittain and Rebecca West comprise a literary genre that aimed to establish not aesthetic ability but the author's credentials as an artist or genius.
