Prosecutors subpoena media for riot photos

Article Abstract:

The authorities in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the FBI in Atlanta, issued subpoenas to news organizations for their videotapes and photographs taken during riots following the Rodney King verdict. News agencies complied when subpoenas called for materials already aired or published, but some are fighting subpoenas that demand unpublished or unbroadcasted materials. Some news agencies and law enforcement authorities are working out agreements, although the authorities are planning to issue more subpoenas as cases come up.
