Secrecy obstructs reporting

Article Abstract:

Investigative reporters who want to investigate the executive clemency process in their states can take lessons from a report by the Atlantic City Press on New Jersey's executive clemency process. Reporters wishing to write on executive clemency should first take a look at the process in the state they want to investigate. They should approach prosecutors and judges as possible sources of information on the process. Another important source of information are documents on executive clemency.
