Tennessee begins camera experiment, while others consider restrictions

Article Abstract:

The issue of allowing television broadcast of court and legislative proceedings is being addressed by Tennessee, Georgia and the US Congress. The Tennessee Supreme Court has initiated a one-year program that will test allowing television access to civil and criminal trials, with protections for jurors and minors. Georgia legislators have introduced three bills aimed at restricting television access. The House of Representatives Government Reform and Oversight Committee on Whitewater respected the request of witness David Watkins and barred television coverage of his testimony.
