The limits on technology

Legal controls on technology may soon have to be adopted because of the risk of certain technologies being used in ways that violate civil rights. A compromise must be struck between those that would see technology developed to the fullest and those that fear the abuse technology.

Scientific speculation seems to be replacing the tried and tested scientific method in determining scientific facts. The dangers inherent in speculative science and the responses of unknowing politicians and bureaucrats to scientists using it are discussed.
