A matter of life and death

Article Abstract:

British Broadcasting Corporation Ltd.'s BBC Science unit is in the process of producing a human biology series which it hopes will be as successful as its previous natural history projects. The 4 million pounds sterling series, called The Human Body, will use the seven ages of life to illustrate the ageing process. The seven-episode series will be centered around the use of sophisticated medical imaging techniques and digital technology. Filming is not expected to finish until well into 1997 and the series will be screened in 1998.

The UK-based British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is working jointly with US-based Discovery Channel to produce a range of science-based programmes, one of the most important being Walking with Dinosaurs, which cost 5.8 million pounds sterling to make. Streets ahead

Article Abstract:

Granada Television, the ITV contract covering the north-west of England, has established a very strong presence, leaving little business for independent production companies. Independents are now looking to survive by expanding their geographical scope or by moving into new areas, such as high-end commercials. Some are considering opening operations in London in order to remain competitive.
