Buried treasure

Article Abstract:

Archival British television programmes are finding an increasingly wide market. The most extensive holdings are with the distributors Brite and CTE and with the British Broadcasting Corporation Ltd. They find that some individual programmes are always in heavy demand around the world and that packaging programmes is also profitable. This might be by theme or, in deals with cable and satellite channels, it is often mutually beneficial to sell by volume including programmes less in demand along with more popular ones.

Brits making a stand at Natpe

Article Abstract:

UK television programme distributors have made extensive preparations for Natpe '97. The British Distributors Campaign has brought together C4, the BBC, ITV sales companies and independent distributors, and has received support from the department of trade and industry and Pact. Publicity was distributed to more than 500 key buyers and decision-makers in 1996, and a single brand has been devised for the event. It is hoped that this approach will allow the UK to have a very strong presence at Natpe '97.
