Disney and ABC strike $19 billion merger deal

Article Abstract:

Walt Disney and Capital Cities/ABC of the US have merged with a combined revenue of $16.5 billion. Disney will pay over $19 billion for ownership of Capital Cities/ABC, and a new media conglomerate, The Walt Disney Company, will be formed. The merger is not expected to generate any job losses due to the complementary nature of both businesses.

Janet Street-Porter's opening address to the Edinburgh International Television Festival focused on the male, middle-class, middle aged and mediocre personalities dominating UK TV. She was criticised for being contradictory by seeking more innovation and asking for globalisation, which some belive do not go together.
