Do Michael Grade's sums for ITV add up?

Article Abstract:

The share price of ITV fell after Michael Grade had given his forecast for the company, and analysts think the his internet strategy is rather "impossible to model". Guy Hands, meanwhile, shared that companies should focus on either production or distribution, and that television advertising still generates the most profit. ITV's future is examined, and the role of private equity firms in television broadcasting is also discussed.

Will Virgin 1 prove to be 40 million pounds well spent?

Article Abstract:

Virgin 1, which received a lot of hype for its launch, is just like any other television channel, with a freeview slot and a few brave commissions such as "Penis Envy". Advertiser-funded programming (AFP) in the UK has received low funding, listing 23 million pounds in 2007 compared to billions spent by advertisers and broadcasters. Whether Virgin 1 is a good investment, and the issues in UK's AFP, are discussed.
