Getting it on

Article Abstract:

It can be extremely difficult to raise funds to make new television comedy shows in the UK. Broadcasters tend to want to stick to established formats, and are unwilling to consider anything that seems too different. There are a number of options for those who feel that they have a very good idea for a new television comedy. They may wish to consider arranging a one-off performance in a theatre, or making a radio pilot. This approach can play a valuable role in attracting the attention of television executives and persuading them that a new idea can be funny.

Software to power the facility

Article Abstract:

Desktop video technology has sufficiently evolved to enable the systems to used for the post-production of television programs. The individual systems can be used for simple work but when used in conjunction with other systems it can cope with more complicated tasks such as film-resolution compositing. Some industry observers fear that the use of desktop video will lead to smaller production budgets. Many of the large software companies are introducing new products for the desktop video market.

Trailer made

Article Abstract:

Salesmen are advised to beware of the use of trailers to promote television programs. Reducing a two hour film down to a 60-90 second trailer can give an incorrect impression of the film, and buyers will rarely purchase a programme without watching the full version. Meridian's 'Hornblower' is one of the television dramas which will be promoted with a 20 minute trailer at Mipcom.
