HTV plans op scandal drama

Article Abstract:

HTV West's investigative unit, headed by James Garrett, will provide the material for a drama based on the children's heart surgery scandal that occurred at Bristol Royal Infirmary. Channel 4's David Lloyd, who has been negotiating for the creation of the factual drama with United Productions, has asked Tom Archer, head of HTV West's factual and development unit, for a full treatment on the incident. HTV West's investigative unit is credited for making "Dispatches" in March 1996, a program that eventually led to the dismissal of two surgeons by the General Medical Council (GMC).
