ITC boss issues Ofcom warning

Article Abstract:

Patricia Hodgson, chief executive of the Independent Television Commission, issued a stern warning to Ofcom concerning the effects of competition on radio and television standards. She feels that efforts to develop an environment of effective competition will diminish the importance of television and radio regulation.

Commercial terrestrial broadcasters have asked Ofcom to change their rules, referred to as "box ticking" regulations, on production targets for public service programming. The situation was recently discussed at the Westminster Media Forum.
