ITV Sport: out for the count?

Article Abstract:

The resignation of Trevor East, Head of Sport at ITV, is expected to have an adverse impact on the television network. The loss of East's contacts and his experience in sports rights negotiations is thought to be a particular blow to ITV. East will also take away details of ITV's future sporting strategy. The company claims to have been angered by the way in which East resigned as opposed to the actual resignation. East is moving to News International as Head of Sports Acquisitions, Northern Hemisphere.

ITC aims to redefine regional

Article Abstract:

Formal consultations will soon be undertaken with all ITV licence holders about plans by the Independent Television Commission (ITC) to introduce a stricter definition of 'regional' programming. This follows the expansion of local co-productions between ITV concerns, which now account for 11% of ITV regional output. A number of ITV companies have been criticised for failing to provide a strong regional content.

Y-TTTV, HTV land key roles in ITV news talks

Article Abstract:

The price charged by ITN to ITV for its news service will come under close scrutiny from a steering committee established to renegotiate ITV's news supply contract. HTV and Yorkshire-Tyne Tees TV, which both have places on the committee, believe that ITV should pay ITN much less. However, their arguments will be opposed by representatives from LWT and Carlton UK TV, the main shareholders in ITN.
