Internet governance in the UK

Article Abstract:

The three myths of Internet governance are discussed. These include the myth dominant in the public policy that Internet governance is best when market decides, the myth dominant in scholarly discussions that network governance and self-regulation is both pervasive and effective and the myth that Internet governance is quite distinct from governance of 'legacy media' through consideration of Internet governance in the UK.

When creators, corporations and consumers collide: Napster and the development of on-line music distribution

Article Abstract:

The authors examine the effect of "A&M Records et al v. Napster" on the concept of the Internet being a place for the free exchange of ideas and a commercial marketplace where there is no need for a middle man. The decision in favor of the record companies, who were fighting to hold on to their control as distributors of the music industry, reveals the reality of internet commerce.
