Lifeline for US as EC moves the Frontiers

Article Abstract:

The new version of the European Commission's Television Without Frontiers (TWF) directive will give more opportunities for US-owned cable and satellite channels in the UK. It includes an option for thematic channels originating in the European Union to not comply with the previous requirement for all European Union television stations to ensure that the majority of their schedules are devoted to European product. They can do this as long as they spend 25% of their total programming budget in European programmes.
