Marking the boundaries of the 'normal' in televised sports: The play-by-play of race

Article Abstract:

Interviews and analysis of commentaries were used for understanding the commentator practices especially regarding the construction of racial difference. Results indicate the possibility of a complex interaction between embedded racist ideologies and media practices especially in relation to live basketball coverage, thus contributing to the ongoing racial discrimination.
