Opportunities and challenges of using meta-analysis in the field of international communication

Article Abstract:

The efficiency of meta-analytical strategies in drawing critical judgements has prompted experts to consider extending its use to international communication. Results derived from a study conducted on the potential influence of foreign television programs on local audiences revealed that meta-analysis may be efficiently used in international communication if the proper theoretical models are employed. Through meta-analysis, researchers may be able to create overarching conclusions through both quantitative and qualitative analyses.

Mass communication and cognitive mobilization: changes in the U.S. electorate from 1952-1984

Article Abstract:

The effect of mass media on the American voters' cognitive mobilization was determined. Results showed that apartisans, voters with cognitive skills and motivation but few partisan ties, were less influenced by television and have significantly decreased their print media use from 1952 to 1984. Moreover, increased exposure to different types of mass media have decreased the functional value of the voters' affective ties to a single political party.

Article Abstract:

The Federal Communications Commission is formed of several bureaus that each regulate a segment of mass media, including wireless telecommunications, cable services, and common carriers. The Mass Media Bureau usually regulates most broadcasters through its Audio Services, Video Services, Policy and Rules and Enforcement divisions.
