Perceptions of "Amerika"

Article Abstract:

Televiewers' perceptions of the US television program 'Amerika' were analyzed. Findings revealed that majority of the respondents believed that the program would have a negative impact on the average person's attitudes more than their own. Such finding supports the third-person effect hypothesis. Moreover, ethnic identification was also found to influence the respondents' perceptions of the program.

"Press mess": David Halberstam, the Buddhist Crisis, and U.S. policy in Vietnam, 1963

Article Abstract:

David Halberstam published several articles in the New York Times about Vietnamese Buddhist monks' protest of their government in 1963. Halberstam's coverage of this Buddhist Crisis demonstrated that, despite his claim of professional objectivity, his story was framed with Cold War symbols that supported American involvement in Vietnamese politics.
