Reality TV in the digital era: a paradox of visual culture?

Article Abstract:

Issues discussed concern the paradox of contemporary visual culture, where digital image manipulation challenges the credibility of photography, yet there is an increase in the use of images to record facts, as evidenced in reality-based television programs. The relationships between media, technology, and the representation of reality are addressed.
