Television and political memory

Article Abstract:

Astudy of political memory and media consumption in France shows that TV viewers retain unpolitical memories of political figures and forget the actual issues of the day. For example, a figure such as Charles DeGaulle is best remembered for his election and death. What results is a dichotomy between the official portrayal of events on TV and the biographies of political persons which the public remembers.
