Renewal announcements

Article Abstract:

The basic requirements for renewing a broadcasting station's license by FCC are the pre-filing and the post-filing announcements. The principal requirements include that television stations should give a visual display of the FCC's address, foreign language stations should make the announcement in their own language, noncommercial stations need not make announcements during any month and new stations with pending renewal applications should change the post-filing and pre-filing announcements. The timings of the broadcast and the legal texts of announcements are discussed.

Unauthorized transfer of control

Article Abstract:

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has broadened its profile in scrutinizing transaction issues. Two broadcasters were recently found liable for permitting an unauthorized transfer of control. The case involved extensive commingling and both were fined.
