Selling indies short abroad

Article Abstract:

Programme distribution is becoming an issue with independent UK programme makers, who believe distribution companies are not always acting in their best interests. Selling the rights to a television programme involves distributers raising cash which helps producers fund future programming, although independent programme makers must ensure they are receiving the maximum return on their work. The advent of digital broadcasting is expected to increase demand for independently produced work, therefore programme makers will be able to seek higher financial rewards.

Lab testing TV

Article Abstract:

A research department has been set up by UK broadcasting company LWT, aimed at developing large amounts of low cost programming suitable for digital broadcasting. Technology investment is one the key issues behind the plan by LWT to set up a dedicated department, claimed LWT director of programming Marcus Plantin, who felt the company could be left behind in the race to develop a clear programming strategy. Other broadcasting firms are seeking to produce high quality, low cost programming suitable for digital broadcasting.
