The MacBride Movement: old 'New Order' leads to the new

Article Abstract:

Research describing the development of the MacBride Movement was conducted. The Non-aligned Movement's drive for a greater share ofinternational communication channels reached its peak with the formation of theMacBride Movement. The Movement also marked a demand for Western media to provide better coverage of the developing countries. The Soviet group joined the movement in pursuing new world information and communication order.

Surveying the territory: re-examining MacBride and theories of development

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate a UNESCO report on the state of international communications. The MacBride Report, published in 1980, discusses the international applications of newspapers, television and radio. The study incorporates a country data base similar to UNESCO's and examines variables such as radios per thousand, literacy, income, urbanization, and life expectancy at birth.

Inter Press Service and the MacBride Report: heeding the call?

A study was conducted toevaluate the services of Inter Press Service. The news agency has been noted for providing media coverage from the perspective of developing countries. The study focuses on how well the agency limits information imbalances based on thestandards set by the UNESCO MacBride Report. The imbalances include news focus on developing countries and news flows.
