The truth is out

Article Abstract:

It is widely believed in the UK television broadcasting industry that viewers do not wish to be informed. This is why documentaries are often only screened very late in the evening. Taking this approach in fact loses broadcasters large potential audiences. Research indicates that television viewers are actually more interested in documentaries than in news, soap operas or situation comedies, and that they wish to be more informed about world issues, especially as they no longer feel that they can trust politicians.

Unnatural practices

Article Abstract:

There have been clear cases of natural history film-makers breaching ethical practice to obtain attractive programming. However, there are also areas where ethical issues are not so clear-cut. Film-makers can be put under great pressure, and may have to consider whether their future career or the welfare of the animals they are filming is their main priority. Despite this, most accept that there are ethical boundaries beyond which they would never go.
