The personal is political - publishable, too

Article Abstract:

Ms magazine, which began in the early 1970's, started as a personalized, reader-responsive magazine, and eventually became a source of revolutionary journalism and political organization. The dangers of counter-productive intimacy were avoided with practical reporting, and the women's movement was reinforced by the portrayal of issues relevant to women.

Bandwagons, women and cultural mythology

Article Abstract:

Women wrongdoers become the focus of public disdain, women in power are resented, and while cinematic portrayals of real women are scarce, women are beginning to act out the one-sided portrayals that are abundant.
