What's Grade's big idea?

Article Abstract:

ITV executive Chairman Michael Grade is about to reveal his strategic review of the business, and the expectations from the company's employees and partners, as well as industry observers, are high. ITV's business has been declining, but at a slower rate in 2007 compared to 2006. An evaluation of the company's operations over the past year, such as its financial performance and programming, are presented.

A mission for mainstream laughs

Article Abstract:

BBC1 has done more than borrowing comedy hits from its sister channel BBC2, and boasts commissioning several hit comedy sitcoms such as "Outnumbered" and "Not Going Out". The channel also commissioned comedy drama series "Mutual Friends", and is planning to get more comedy drama in its programming. BBC1's other comedy program commissioning plans are also presented.

Mass appeal for creativity

Article Abstract:

Free-to-air television could be in jeopardy with the pressure of the commercial channels to produce risk-taking programming. Commissioning public service programming at certain times and even during peaktime could allow the broadcasters to please everyone, some of the time.
