Article Abstract:

There have been significant developments in tool coating technology over recent years. However, these are not necessarily being widely exploited by UK manufacturers and engineers. For this reason, the department of trade and industry is using industrial sponsorship to boost awareness of surface engineering. It is important to be aware that there can be significant advantages associated with ultra hard thin film coating technology at low temperature using physical vapour deposition methods. Chemical vapour deposition technology also allows the production of ultra hard thin film coatings.

Can purchasing power parity help forecast the dollar?

Article Abstract:

Durations of exchange rate deviations from purchasing power parity (PPP) were investigated to determine future exchange rate movement data provided by PPP. Results showed that movements away from PPP represent Monte Carlo cycles. Therefore, PP does not offer useful data on future exchange rate changes, consistent with market efficiency.
