Don't be badgered

Article Abstract:

Badgers in the United Kingdom are protected by legislation which makes it an offence to harm, disturb or remove badgers from their sett, or to damage a sett or send dogs into it. Intending to do these is also an offence. The legislation can cause problems to land developers who have to prove that their actions will not disturb the badgers or destroy their food supply. Developers have to seek expert advice and inspect empty setts. Licences which give permission to disturb a sett are sometimes issued but there are strict conditions attached to it.

Error brands for impulse responses

Article Abstract:

The extension of known methods for generating error bands in reduced form vector autoregressions to overidentified models was shown correctly. The study proposed the supplementing of conventional pointwise bands common in the literature with measures of shape uncertainty and how such measures could be generated. The likelihood-based bands, rather than approximate confidence bands based on asymptotic theory, were suggested as the standard in reporting results for this type of model.

Monitors manage discharge

Article Abstract:

A comparative evaluation of three discharge monitors used in ship tanks is presented. The Cleantoil 9000 manufactured by Jowa, the Oili-s 1000 of Optec and Rivertrace's OCD 10M differ according to such characteristics as wavelength, number of preselected settings and flushing method. They are all automatically calibrated. Jowa has the advantage of having the biggest number of service outlets and its system is the only one which needs to be flushed with clean water.
